Every inflatable lifejacket is required by law to be serviced by a professional technician according to the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.
This may seem a bit of a hassle but the benefit is your lifejackets will work when you need them.
So generally you will have your inflatable lifejackets serviced once every three years by Lifejacket Servicing Tasmania. This will be a full service including an inflation test and any repairs or replacement parts the jacket may require.
You can and should also perform a self-check of all your inflatable lifejackets. How often you do this will depend on how often you wear them at sea but we would suggest that immediately after returning from a trip and before your next one isn’t too often.
After all, you are responsible for the safety of your crew and passengers and they will assume that you are maintaining your safety equipment and not putting them in harm’s way.
